Doro - Classic Diamonds

Doro Pesch always did it her own way: constantly raising from the eighties legendary heavy metal Underground into the spheres of premiere division rock ladies of planet earth. 1986 as Singer of Germany's newcomers Warlock experienced an early breakthrough, impressing tens of thousands of people by playing a thunderous gig at the British mega-event "Monsters of Rock". An early success that opened the doors of the American market as well. Since then millions of copies of Doros records found their way into collections of dedicated fans around the world. Her last Warlock-Album "Triumph And Agony" sold more than one million units over the years. 1989 her first solo album "Force Majeure" went gold in Germany with more than 250.000 sold copies. Doro received awards in various countries, topped by Germany's "Echo"-Award in 1994 as "best female Singer". In Spain she's a reigning goddess: 13 times in a row the Spaniards voted her as "best international female Singer of the year".

Roughly nine months after her 20th year's stage anniversary, Doro opens up a new facet of her musical universe. No doubt about that: "Classic Diamonds" will fill her supporters with enthusiasm. The noble record delivers both stylishly and discreetly arranged orchestra variations of all-time-classics ('Für immer', 'All We Are'), dramatic ballads ('Love Me In Black', 'Rare Diamonds') plus an unearthly overwhelming coverversion of Judas Priest's 'Breaking The Law' with co-singer Udo Dirkschneider (Accept/U.D.O.). The record is rounded up by four brand new numbers, including the superb slow-song 'Let Love Rain On Me' (title track of the MCD) and a new boxing ring anthem supporting Germany's undefeated female world Champion Regina Halmich, a dose friend of her since years. Doro is a boxing lady since many years. She also dedicated the title track of her last studio record "Fight" to one of Regina's earlier campaigns. First public warm-up gigs of the Classic Night Orchestra were played successfully during spring 2004. Doro and her band were supported in April and May by some three dozen classical instrumentalists of a renowned German conservatory. The official Premier show of Doro and the Classic Night Orchestra will find an appropriate spot as Friday night headlining act of this year 's Wacken Open Air in northern Germany. This event will be followed in October by a full-sized tour. It is no miracle why Doro Pesch is among the most undisputed celebrities of the rock'n'roll world. She gets highest regards both by her many fans, fellow musicians and former producers alike: Gene Simmons (Kiss), Jürgen Engler (die Krupps), Jack Ponti (Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper), Barry Becket (Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones), Slash (Guns N'Roses), Peter Steele (Type 0 Negative) and last but not least the distinctive hard roar icon Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead). They all know about Doro's driving forces: She is an ultra passionate music lover with ultimate human manners, always trying to live an honest and decent life. Even if you are the leader of Fleet Streets rat pack you will never find hidden stories or scandalous chapters in her biography. There are none. There's other things you will find: First of all an impressive personality with a great voice and a big heart. Doro never got knocked out by any of the many really ugly cross-checks of life she suffered over the years. She keeps on smiling, even if it hurts. Plus she never takes a break. "Having a vacation" is the most unknown term of her life. She almost never has an off-day. Whenever there is a time gap between her shows or her recording days, the musicians of her stable American band are happy guys. But Doro apparently cannot spend a day without doing anything, relaxing from an exhausting road trip. So she is always visiting fanclub meetings, working constantly on new songs or ideas for the backdrops of her live shows or playing rehearsal room jam sessions with local bands. Her motto: "You'II always have to do something. And you've got to do it yourself, since no one will do it for you and finally nothing will happen." Unbelievable, but true: Only a few years ago she was busted several times by the German cops when they found her with a bucket of glue in the middle of the night, sticking her own concert posters to wooden fences in the center of her hometown Düsseldorf. And even more way back in the past she was driving the band bus through the night, when she was on tour with her former band Warlock, some heavily drinking guys. Everybody passed out, and Doro again did not get any sleep. She has always been fighting to the limits. This attitude, to care for herself at last, never did change until today. Her countless steaming stage shows, her impressive lyrics, revealing frankly the fragility of her existence, and her Professional behavior, signing record sleeves deep in the night after two-hour-performances with a smile on her face, earned Doro the most loyal audience. "It is impossible to me to imagine a life without music", she says. Yes, that is truly unimaginable. Someone with her unique blend of tenacity, sensitivity, reliability, honesty and determination will always find a way. Especially if she will continue releasing albums like "Classic Diamonds". This record will open up a lot of doors for Doro. And it is another sparkling Star of her successful career.
